What Is EFT?

Emotional Freedom Technique was founded by Gary Craig in the 1990s building on the earlier work of Dr. Roger Callahan. It was found that tapping with the fingertips on the end points of certain acupuncture meridians while thinking about the issue (fears/phobias/pain/stress etc.) served to give surprisingly fast relief and often complete release from the problem. Since then EFT has been extensively tested and is now classed as an “evidence based” practice, grounded in solid science, which is used by millions worldwide. EFT is a mind-body technique. The gentle and painless repeated tapping sends calming signals to the fight-flight centre of the brain which rapidly reduces the stress hormones (cortisol) and tells the body it is safe to talk about or re-experience the painful feelings or memories. The client taps on themselves and can share as much or as little about the issues as they feel comfortable. It is effective as a self help technique but working with a practitioner is important to go deeper into memories, events, painful thoughts that are hard to face alone. I will be there to hold space for you, gently guide you to find the blocks and barriers, the upsetting or traumatic memories that you know are holding you back in your life. Together we will tap through these one by one to release them, always going at your speed of readiness to prevent overwhelm. You have the answers within you and my job is to help you find the shift, the new point of view, the different perspective, that can take you forward to a new sense of well-being and harmony.
